Big Things are Happening!

Big things are happening...or have happened ;)

Shortly after my last post our lives changed FOREVER!!

Our lives were going along just like normal until Sunday February 2, we had just walked into the house from church when Chase's phone started ringing. It was the birth father's dad, he had been telling us the whole time not to give up. He said that the baby and the birth parents were at his house and he needed to come.

It was a shock out of nowhere and we didn't know what to think. They just told Chase to come so I was anxiously waiting by the phone. I couldn't think of any reason they would want him to come over if she wasn't changing her mind.

After about an hour and a half I got the phone call I had been waiting for...SHE CHANGED HER MIND!!!

The only downside, she wanted to wait 3 weeks until after his next Dr. appointment. My excited immediately fell, she had changed her mind before, whats to say she wouldn't change it again.

We of course called our parents and told them the news. Everybody was excited to hesitant. Chase and I decided to be positive but not fully get our hopes up.

Luckily we were going to a Super Bowl party at some of our friends house. As we're hanging out eating all the good party food Chase got a text from the grandfather, after the meeting she had been real emotional and wanted to do it sooner...WHAT?!?!

We went back and forth a little and after talking to our attorney(so glad he answered his phone at 8:00 on Super Bowl Sunday!) it was decided that we would pick him up that night and they would sign the papers the next day!

It was a mad hustle as we went home as fast as we could to get the carseat. We ended up getting to the birth father's house around 8:30 and I got to see our son for the first time. After an emotional goodbye and promise to talk soon we were off.

Chase's parents were out of the town for work at the time but my parents and some close family friends that we had been with when we got the call came to our house to meet him. It was all surreal, waking up that morning I was still in the long and frustrating waiting process of adoption. Never in my wildest dream would I have thought we would end the night with the baby we had prayed for and waiting so long to hold.

He was a little fussy at first, but that's understandable, he was in a new place with new people. That night he woke up at 2:30 and 5:30 and I have never been so excited to have interrupted sleep!
