The Longest 10 Days Ever

On Monday February 3 our attorney went and met with the birth parents. They were meeting at 1 to sign the relinquishment papers, it was such a weight off when we heard from the attorney that everything was signed.

In Georgia birthparents have 10 days to change their mind.  They signed on a Monday and so Tuesday was day 1, day 10 fell on February 13. It worked out great because day 11, the first day that we knew we were safe would be Valentines Day.

It was Valentine's Day 2011 that we announced to our friends that we were pregnant with twins. This would be the perfect way to come full circle.

On Tuesday we took Hudson to the Dr. that we wanted to use. The birth mom lived about 25 minutes away from us, she had taken him to a pediatrician the next town over but we wanted to use ours. He turned 7 weeks old the day after we got him, so it wasn't an official appointment just a check to make sure he was healthy.

He of course was just perfect. Weighing in at 12 lbs 2 oz and was 23 inches long. At birth he was 7 lbs 15 oz and 20 1/2 inches long, he was growing right on track.

Wednesday we had our first outing as a family of three, besides the Dr visit. We went to mall to get out and walk around.

The next week was just a whirlwind of family and friends coming to meet him. Chase's parents got back on Monday and were so excited to come meet their grandson.

We also had a crazy winter storm, being that we didn't have a fireplace we went to stay at my parents house to be prepared in case the power went out. We had a full house with my brother and his wife and grandmother there too.

It was a fun week with plenty of fun and games. Taking Hudson out in the snow for the first time, even if he slept through the whole thing. haha

Finally it was February 13, other words known as DAY 10! We had made it!! That was the longest day of the whole time. We rejoiced when the clock struck midnight and it was over!

We still have to get to finalization, but the first and biggest hurdle is done.
